While perhaps a bit unfair in view of the rarity of such treatment in normal service, the procedure has teen used by CL as a criterion by which to rate ultimate stop-ping power. The "crash stops" are made at the end of acceleration runs in each direction, a matter of only a minute or so apart and hardly space enough to allow the drums to cool down. Results of the usual braking test, i.e., two all-on stops from 80 mph, with a similar '64 model, are quite enlightening and elevate the newly-braked car into proper perspective. The real interest insofar as the new model is concerned lies in the caliper-disc braking system and its effect on the woefully neglected area of stopping performance. Nonetheless, the data panel illustrates the present 'Bird's level of performance. Frontal area of the latter was 22.1, com-pared to the present car's 22.5 sq. and terminal speed but it would be interesting to determine the relative difference between the new body and the old. Aerodynamics hardly play a part in this car's e.t. That the new 'Bird improves on such performance is most likely because of the different tire size (8:15-15 low profiles) and apparent attention on the part of the engineering staff to reduction of operating friction. quarter-mile time, attaining 72 mph at the quarter marker. Regular readers will recall it returned an 18.7 sec. less and had exactly the same engine /transmission / rear axle equipment, although it was mounted on 8.00-14 wheels. Save for the brakes, there have been no significant mechanical changes between '64 and '65, either-or for that matter since the '62. has satisfied itself with only a slight re-arrangement of decorative bright work to serve as the visual indicator of the new model year. That test car, a convertible with the then-available fiberglass tonneau cover and wire wheels, has been superseded by the newly-dressed 'Bird which displayed its angular lines for the first time last fall. A case in point is the Thunderbird, which Car Life editors last reported on in the July 1962 issue. This was a complete off-frame restoration that took close to ten years to complete, and the owner has many additional accessory parts available for purchase (ask for details).ONE THING ABOUT a stable car design: There's not much point in putting one of the models through road test procedures every year or so. The car has been stored in a heated garage for the past 10 years and has absolutely no rust present. The exterior of the car boasts all-new chrome trim, and the odometer currently reads 81,174 miles (though the owner cannot verify if it has been turned over). An aftermarket AM/FM stereo with seven speakers and two amps and an aftermarket rubber steering wheel complete the interior upgrades. Extra Dyna-Mat insulation has been installed in the roof, floor, and trunk area for superior noise reduction. The interior of the car features new leather wrap-around bucket seats (the owner has the original seats, which were reupholstered), a new dash, new tinted windshield and rear window, new headliner, carpet, and rear seat upholstery. The car sits on 15-inch Keystone Classic wheels with Mickey Thompson tires (front 235/60R/15 and rear 295/50R/15) and has power steering, power front disc brakes, and rear drum brakes. Other modifications include a custom Pypes cross-over exhaust system, tubular front and rear control arms with a Hurst performance handling package, a new aluminum radiator, and a new 21-gallon stainless steel gas tank. The car also has a Chevy 12 bolt C-clip posi-traction rear end with a 3:55 ratio. The large buzzsaw can be launched like a yo-yo after purchasing the ability Boomerazor. The large saw is also capable of blocking the energy projectiles of nearly all common enemies in the game, but only a select few attacks from bosses (actually doing this is very impractical). This large saw holds Copen in place and has a long deactivation time, but can immediately be escaped with the ex weapon Whirling Chopper. Button mashing after the small saw produces a chainsaw swing from front to slightly overhead (also blocks physical projectiles), and mashing again after the chainsaw produces a large buzzsaw, which can be kept spinning by holding the button. Pressing the attack button produces a small buzzsaw which can block physical projectiles, and holding the saw keeps it constantly spinning but massively reduces its damage output. His laser gun, Divider, has been replaced by a new chain/buzz saw melee weapon known as the Razor Wheel, which can cut enemies in half. ![]() Dashing on the ground now results in the rocket powered Recoil Dash, which knocks enemies and objects back and normally does not tag, and results in Copen bouncing backwards (how far back can be adjusted with movement). However, unlike that game, which simply imported the gameplay of Azure Striker Gunvolt 2 with minor adjustments, LAiX2 radically overhauls and changes Copen's gameplay system.Ĭopen's armor has changed to automatically switch between two aesthetic "modes" depending on whether he is grounded or performing a bullit dash: the power focused Break-Shift and speed focused Bullit-Shift. Folks who are more fond of sexy visual flourishes and style over gameplay substance may still get a kick out of this, but if you prefer something a bit more meaty and satisfying it will likely leave you feeling under-nourished.Similar to its predecessor, Luminous Avenger iX 2 stars Copen as its main player character. Then there’s the pretty limited amount of overall content, allowing you to plow through in less than a handful of hours yet even within the first hour or so you’ll really start feeling the lack of variety as you dispatch more and more enemies without much room for changing things up and keeping them fresh. Nope, you can request a heal at any time, even if it does ruin your combo multiplier. The ever-present ability to heal at any time is a bit weird, and actually feels like a bit of lazy design where the stages weren’t tuned well enough to place heals a bit sparingly and push players to do well enough to earn them. Challenge though, aside from simply trying to max out your rank and score?!? Not so much. Throw in a mix of quick dashes, some tricky traversals at times to get at secrets, a powerful auto-targeting attack you’ll need to get well-acquainted with, and a powerful and somewhat cinematic special and there’s no shortage of flair to be found here. It’s hard not to marvel at it as things get rolling, and there’s even a fair amount of excitement initially when you start wielding your buzzsaw-like weapon and bisecting your enemies with a vengeance. More than anything else with the Luminous Avenger titles, you could never say they aren’t visually stunning with their pixel art. ![]() ![]() Improvements to blood pressure, cholesterol and blood sugar levels were short-lived, returning to baseline levels quickly after participants started eating again. In two other studies, only a small amount of the lost weight returned, but those studies encouraged participants to restrict their calorie intake after the fasts ended. In one of those, people gained back all they had lost in a five-day water fast within three months. Only a few of the studies in the review tracked whether participants gained back the weight they had lost once the fast ended. People who fasted for five days lost about 4% to 6% of their weight those who fasted for seven to 10 days lost about 2% to 10%, and those who fasted for 15 to 20 days lost 7% to 10%. (Photo: Roberta Dupuis-Devlin/UIC Photo Services) She figured if she was going to comment, she should investigate the existing research. Varady, an expert on intermittent fasting, said she wanted to study water fasting because she suddenly started getting contacted by journalists last fall who wanted to hear what she thought about it. She stressed, however, that no one should undertake one of these fasts for more than five days without medical supervision. “My overall conclusion is that I guess you could try it, but it just seems like a lot of work, and all those metabolic benefits disappear,” Varady said. However, there do not appear to be any serious adverse effects for those who do a water fast or a similar kind of fast where people consume a very small number of calories a day, said Krista Varady, professor of kinesiology and nutrition, who led the research, which is published in Nutrition Reviews.
